Temperature measurement

I need to measure the temperature of a tub of water. What would be the best/easiest way to do this. Thermocouple or thermistor circuit? I would like to be able to dunk the sensor in the water.

If you use a LM34 or 35, you get an output that is already scaled in engineering units. What is going to be reading/displaying the temperature?

The LM34 gives output in Farenheit, the LM35 in Centigrade.
There are other options, as well:
LM134/234/334 - adjustable current source & temp sensor
LM135/235/335 - precision temp sensor in °K
LM56 - dual thermostat; in case you want to have fixed triggers at certain temps.

Dip it or wrap it in plastic would do it, you can get insulative dips pretty inexpensively at the hardware store, think rubber based coating.
