Solid state Tesla coil

this circuit has elements from a Joule thief (blocking oscillator) and a Tesla coil.

It doesnt need a resistor like a Joule Thief or capacitors, and has push button start.

It can generate high voltage!

One end of the secondary winding is left open.

As you see the circuit drives a LED chain from 2.5 volt, and it can light up small neon lamps too.

I used a PANASONIC inductor to which I added 8 turns as the primary winding.
Transistor is a regular 2n3906.

The pushbutton start is a later developement in fact the layout is quite sensible as there are no resistors or capacitors of any kind to support the oscillation.
At first I used a tinfoil electrode for starting.
