ZIP (Zig zag in-line package) sockets?

Hi Folks,

Would anyone know of a source for the ZIP style IC sockets? I have a rather expensive IC which comes in ZIP style packaging. I'd prefer not to solder the pins directly, but I have been unable to find any source of sockets for these. Would it be possible to use two 9 pin SIP sockets and stagger them a bit or would the pin spacing be off? Even a ZIP to DIP adapter socket would suffice, but have not found any of those either.

Thanks!

Probably talking about an Audio or Stepper Driver IC. Most I have seen have larger pins than a standard 74XX IC. Never seen a socket but that doesn't mean they don't exist.

Hi Ernie,

Thanks for the reply. Dimensional drawing is attached here. Seems that SIP sockets might not be viable based on the pin spacing of the ZIP. Hoping there might be something that will work though.

The pin spacing seems to be standard 100mil, so no problem with normal SIP sockets. If the pins fit in the socket holes then you should be ok.
