Writing to an LCD with MSP430(c language)

Hello, I'm beginning to work on a project involving the MSP430 based ucontroller and an LCD screen. I have experience writing to LCD from the basic atom(p-basic language, PIC chip) and am really not sure where to start with this chip and C. I have some code examples and am reading up on the userguide for the chip, but I'm a bit lost. Anyone have useful links that could point me in the right direction?
