The cost of the generator new is so high that you might want to consider a wind-driven Delco Alternator out of an old GM car or truck. If you require little power, use a small propeller. At any rate, it's ironic that a larger generator based on a used alternator is cheaper than a new tiny wind generator. Using a Delco you get the rectifier within the generator and you can hook it directly to a 12 volt batter or bank of batteries. Use deep cycle RV batteries and you can store a whole lot of energy. I used to power my old trailer house this way. Don't be afraid to carve your own propeller out of hardwood. The more you do yourself, the more you save. This is a very practical thing to do.
