When does a post go the archive

Saw a documentory film,very scenic yet a lot activity
going on. The show Windmills of the past,the tulip trade.
Waiting to see rerun,tried to picture where you lived as they
showed dwellings.

Bertus, all posts are simultaneously in both the 'archive' and the main forum. It's my understanding that the purpose of the archive is mainly for search engines to crawl. Since they are stripped down versions of the actual threads, they are less bandwidth to crawl, and contain less html to sort through for the spiders to find the actual content.

Thanks for the explanation.
The link I saw in the who's online list, was probably a user that found the thread from an external search engine (like google).
