Hey guys,

I am working on an automatic reverse parking system for a small model car. It cannot be R/C'ed and needs to park automatically :) anyway, I need to install a wheel encoder to it and since I don't have any experience with wheel encoders at all, I thought I'd ask you guys for help.
First off, after I obtain my wheel encoder, would I need to attach it to one of the wheels or somewhere else on on the car? Also, for accurate measuring would I need to install more than 1 encoder?
The wheels of the car have a diameter of 6.5cm and the rim of the car is 5.5cm.

Also, can you guys recommend me a reliable wheel encoder to purchase?

Cheers!

check AAC VOL IV. CHapyer 11. Synchronous counters, last paragraph, for alook at a shaft encoder. How many counts per revolution do you need. Might need two, one for steering, one for movement. Google shaft encoder .
