Tennis sensor- sweetspot detection using a Lidar?

Hey guys,
I'm interested in doing a tennis sensor project where it measures the speed of the racket when it contacts the ball and maybe figure out a way to detect where in the stringbed the ball was hit. For the Sweetspot detection, do you think it's possible to detect accurately where the ball was hit in the stringbed using a lidar attached somewhere on the beam of the racket, and maybe calculate the speed of the ball on impact??
