What is this white goo?

Hi

Apologies if this is a stupid question - I am refurbishing a circuit board and have found several components are protected from vibration with a white sealant / glue (see example on photo). I have scraped most of it off, but some remains.

Can anyone advise me exactly what it is called? Even better would be an RS / Farnell P/N?

Many thanks in advance,

Jon

Seeing the board itself before you pulled the part would make a positive ID easier.

It's probably just some silicon caulk. Best purchased from a Home Depot or Lowes.

Thanks - there is some more of this stuff elsewhere (see picture).

I am sure it is more scientific than ordinary caulk. Digikey must do something like this just not sure what it's exact description is.

Any more ideas?

Many thanks in advance,

Jon

If you are going to use Silicone caulk make sure its Neutral cure, as some are corosive. Hot glue is probably cheaper & safer (non corosive)
