What is the coomon groundFET doing in this circuit

Dear members

I am having trouble understanding this circuit. I have gone through all of the components, but I get stuck really understanding the functionality of the bipolar npn that has a 5pF capacitor connect fro drain to source. Could someone please explain that part of the circuit to me? Thanks in advance.
