Active filter theorists and designers are very familiar with the GIC (general impedance converter), but generally modellers do not know about. A single-port active circuit typically include low-cost op amps, resistors and capacitors, the GIC will capacitance converted to inductance, which can replace the filter inductance RLC transfer function described in In addition, the flexibility of the GIC input impedance equation allows the design of virtual impedance, which does not exist in the actual components, such as frequency-dependent resistance. GIC launched 30 years ago, has been widely used in AC circuits and active filter circuit.
