Our comedy is some of the finest in the world (Hugh Laurie & Stephen Fry; David Mitchell & Robert Webb are two double acts which I enjoy, among others), but the soap opera programs let us down.

British comedy is an acquired taste for most of us Americans I think. I experienced it at an early age so I get it, but if I try to watch it anyone else, I'm the only one laughing.
