wah wah with buffer

so i built this wah wah circuit for my guitar. it works and sounds great. when i added on the buffer circuit(in red on the schem.) it cuts the volume and tone quite a bit. much more than i would like. im trying to use the buffer so the distortion pedal doesnt load it down. any suggestions on modding the buffer so i can get the same quality i get when i bypass the buffer? thank you ;)

Hello,

Are you using the given FET (2N5457) for the buffer?
I would not expect the buffer to have much influence.
