Can someone help me out with a voltage doubler circuit (component selection)? I'm looking to take a 12v to 220v inverter and run it into a doubler circuit to output dc. I was planning on using 1N5408s for the rectifiers but don't know how to calculate the optimal capacitor values for the circuit. This is for a electrofishing unit so the output of the doubler circuit will be controlled by a pwm type circuit (with (2) 555 timers) controlling the freq and duration tied to the gate of a MOSFET. See attachment for the doubler circuit.

This is not a project we can support, for several reasons. Electrofishing is about as dangerous an activity as can be imagined, and, as far as I know, as illegal for an individual as taking game out of season. I used to make electrofishing boxes for the state, so I am familiar with the dangers and legal issues.
