I don't believe this is clear:

"A properly biased N-channel junction field effect transistor (JFET) is shown in Figure above. The gate constitutes a diode junction to the source to drain semiconductor slab."?????

There is a single slab of N-type semiconductor material with the source at one and and the drain at the other. The P-Type gate clearly forms a junction. So given the picture and the text what is it you think is unclear?
