Hi there,

If I'm using a 100uF 16V cap but only charging it to 2.7V. Can I know how many farads I'm actually getting in charge?

Thanks!

Charge is not measured in farads. The unit of charge is the coulomb. The 16V is the rating of the capacitor. It means that you should not try to charge it with a voltage greater than 16 Volts. Check out the following article:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitance

Rich (BB code):
Q = C * V
Q = (100e-6)(2.7) = 270 micro-coulombs

In terms of actual charge carriers

(6.241e18)(270e-6) = 1.685e15 electrons

If electrons were $'s you'd be rich
