I haven't really worked with electronics in a long time. But I thought this project would be easy and it turns out I need some help.

Valence made a product a few years back called the NCharge. Its a slim battery pack for laptops, that added 5-10 hours of battery life depending on the model.
I have a 5000mAh unit (Model VNC-65) that I would like to put to some use.
The unit had an option component you could by to charge USB devices. I never got around to ordering it, but I thought it would be easy enough to solder in a USB header and use it as an emergency battery pack.
Valence no longer carries the product line or any of the accessories, so if I don't want to chuck the thing, I need to figure out how to make it work.

I've got 6 pins to work with where they hooked up their USB adapter.
I believe I found a common ground, two points with 4.76volts and one with 2.51volts.
But I get no amps from any of the pins. I've tried multiple combinations with my multimeter and get nothing.
I am assuming this is why when I soldered a header to the common ground and one of the 4.76v pins, my phone didn't recognize it.

Not sure where I can go from here to use this thing?

Can't really get any info on the adapter unfortunately.
