This is a continuation of bluebrakes' thread which is too old for me to post to.

To Bluebrakes:
I have been trying to get the communication going to my Fluke 99B. So far I have CP2102 based USB-to-TTL adapter and some photodiode and photodetector diode (dubious naming here). I have tried Bluebrakes' circuit with no success. Could you please suggest what IR components I should use? Or even better, do you recall what components you used? Your help would be appreciated. Thank you.
I will post updates, if I get it to work.

Sorry I missed your post, I only found it from browsing the forum. Better late than never :-D

Specifically I used a Shian Yih 32PT Infrared phototransistor as a receiver and some generic e-bay special 3mm Infrared LEDs.

I suggest using the Private Message function of the forum to email me back with any questions, as that notifies me straight away that someone has sent me a message, rather than having to log on.
