Umer Farooq has been reincarnated.
You just hijacked an existing thread:
Your statement has nothing to do with the thread.
What are you talking about Umer Farooq?
Do you mean this user: http://forum.allaboutcircuits.com/member.php?u=77570 ?
He last entered the forum at 6-6-2010.
Didn't he play shortstop for the Phillies back in 1937?
So he's a Buddhist?
Wouldn't have guessed it from the name...
@#12, I doesn't appear they got the joke.
At least somebody got it! LOL!
Searching for the name Umer_Farooq only gets one return, but he was involved in a thread about the LM317 and did a pretty good job of driving several people nuts last June. There might have been less than a hundred posts in that thread, but it felt like several hundred! The thing about, "an answer only gets a new question" reminded me of him.
Im here for ya buddy.
Us comedians gotta stick together.
All forums have em, Umer has a language barrier, almost no electronics skills and a handful of parts that weren't suitable for what he wanted and no parts stores.
Now on another electronic forum there was a Walters and his geetar. No language barrier but instead...
Thanks for the Dunning-Kruger information. I have recognized my mistake in assuming other people my age must have similar experiences, and so, similar knowledge, "equivalent understanding". I thought that mistake was a personal problem, possibly peculiar to me. Glad to know I'm not the only one.
Another thanks to retched. This isn't the first one-liner I've flopped with on this site.
Oh, I know the awkward silence of a flopped joke well.
You can even hear the silence , or cricket chirps, on a forum.
I don't get it So umer is #12
Oh golly, no! I am not Umer_Farooq. I don't live in India. I don't ask question after endless question while seeming to ignore the answers I am getting.
The comment was aimed at Umer not you #12
Phew!! I thought Umer had makeover
I easily see how Umer was described, but I also saw one of my personal traits, "competent people falsely assume that others have equivalent understanding". I chronically assume that people around me are very similar to me in life experience and the understanding of their experiences, except for my specialized field of study. In the forums, I tend to assume people are very much like me, including the study of electronics, except there are also beginners here. This sometimes causes misunderstandings. The good part is that I have become aware of this tendency and try to compensate by being more aware of how much I do NOT know about each person I interact with.
