How does a current mode PWM controller like a UC3843 work? I need guide on reading its block diagram from datasheets and how to set its output parameters.

[EDIT] Question : What does a comparator output? In the current sense part with comparator, the - terminal is clamped to 1 V and the + part is the one varying. When it goes beyond 1 V, what happens? or Did I get it wrong?
[EDIT] I need Unitrode Application note U-96. I can't navigate or search it on the TI site. Anyone has?
