I would like to know how many different ways we can control a motor.
The first i found is through PWM and this can be easily implemented using either opamps or timer ciruits. if i am right for this circuit only open loop control can be achieved. If feedback is to be implemented without using a sensor (tachometer) how can it be done.

Another way i found is through PIC control in which feedback control can be easily implemented.

Is there any other ways in which we can control the speed of a motor ? If i was to make a project on small dc motor speed control , can anyone suggest me a title as i am preparing myself for a degree project?

Are you interested in a closed loop control, or just methods for varying speed? A single transistor can vary current through the motor, for instance.

Narrow induction motor celerity control. is what I would call it. Meaning pretty much.. small scale induction motor speed control. and there are numerous ways to accomplish it. PWM is a good one as you stated. It makes for a meritable class/degree project since the math and other physics of the PWM can be explained in your (thesis?).
