Hello,
What function do the Hall Effect sensors play in a brushless dc motor control circuit? The motor control IC has a frequency control input from a multi-vibrator circuit and from a speed control feedback winding in the motor.
Thank you,
David

The Hall Effect sensor likely detect the position of the rotor so that the proper winding can be energized by the electronics to maintain the rotor motion. It takes the place of a mechanical commutator in a brush-type DC motor which determines which windings are energized..

Thank you for the reply to my inquiry. I do think the Hall Effect sensors are my problem. I totally disconnected them from the circuit and the turntable responded the same as before, no torque, had to "help" it get up to speed. Pulling too much current, too much heat.
Other thoughts?
