Hi I was wondering if a indoor tracking device is out on the market. I keep losing my tools at work and need some type of tracking device. The thing is I need it to track it by my PC. For example: If I forget my drill somewhere in the building I can go to my PC and a layout of the building I work in will come up and show me where my drill is by some type of blinking. Thanks

For the general case, it's a tough problem. I don't think, an indoor tracking system like you are describing exists on the market. One approach is to install an RFID reader in every room and tag your tools. Many are working on this (myself included, although on a smaller scale), but as far as I know, there are no commercial solutions yet.

While it's possible it's not feasible yet. If you forget the tools somewhere would you remember to replace the batteries? ;)

MrMeval recognises what happens in my own home.

"Darling, would you call my cell-phone? I've mislaid it."

"Sure... Hmmm... went to voice-mail on the first ring...":(

We also have conversations such as "Darling will you call my PDA? Glasses? Purse? Book I was reading?"
