I want to make a timer that will open a contactor .5 second to one second per minute..i would also like room for adjustment say on time up to 3 seconds per 4 minutes. what do i need to make this happen..
i have zero experiance in this

 

A 555 IC timer ckt should work. Using separate pots,1 meg & 10k, for charging & discharging a capacitor of about 300 μF should give the required range. Need contactor coll inf. & available V.

 

contactor has yet to be purchased but itll be 110v..coil size of whats available

 

No problem- use a solid state relay. STR, to couple 555 output to 110V AC coil. Read up on 555's at top of page ,Volume VI-Ch 8- Expereriments- 555 Hysteretic Osc. Would use a slight modification to allow seprate control of on & off states.
