Hello
I have this assessment on three phase power and one of the question ask about how the three phase power supply system is derived for an industrial application. I was wondering if anyone might be able to point me in the right direction?

any book on introdutory Electric machines should be useful. you could look at electric machines - fitzgerald, kingsley. see the chapter on synchronous machines
else run a google search for synchronous generator.
A little knowledge of electromagnetic induction would be useful

3 phase power could also be generated by using power electronics circuits called inverters. For 3 phase inverters you may refer any book on power electronics (Rashid's book would be my recommendation). However background knowledge of power electronics would be essential.
