This old marine battery charger creates a hum in a VHF radio broadcast

A faraday cage can inhibit the static electric field of the charging system ( received by vhf marine band 156 and 174 MHz). The mains going in and out of the charging system can be enclosed as well. The RFI can be sniffed and filters designed to reduce the interference. You may have covered this but the question: How is the 60 cycle emission be carried into the radio, possibly several ways.
