But I'm failing to understand what the max constant current should be. I think it's 20ma but they keep citing 100ma. I think the 100ma is pulsed which I do not want.

 

The spec sheet says that the 100ma current figure is continuous. That would lead me to believe that it is safe to drive it that hard.

It is peak rated at 1.5 Amps.

It is described as a power IR LED so it should be able to take the current.

Wow, It will rock then. It's intended an array a flashlight for night vision and a demonstrator as to why it's a bad idea to iron a combat uniform.

 

It's a bad idea to Iron Anything.... at least in my wardrobe....

 

Just remember to derate it for temperature. The 100mA is for 25C operation.
