Morpheus lander first free flight

 

It didn't get too far before rolling. Any speculation yet as to what went wrong? RCS failure?

The untethered test in the 2ed video is reminiscent of Neil Armstrong's adventure with the flying bedstead all those years ago and the moaning sound of (presumably) over-pressurized tanks is just heartbreaking.

Oh well, onward. They'll fix it, I'm sure.

 

They had some stable tests runs before so it's likely a hardware problem. I see no attempt to stabilize after liftoff.

I hope they have very good telemetry because not much is left of the lander.
