Hey all. I have a very old tektronic 2213 60mhx, analog unit. But would like to get a digital unit.... SO I was looking on line and seen the owon for under 400.00 new. It is dule trace 25hmz, color grafic, storafge, and can be used like a usb scope...... The reviews seem okay. However I was wondering if it might be better to get an older tektronic digtal... 100-200mhz unit anround the same price range, or accept the lower mhz for a new unit?
For the most part it is for education..... and my ham interest... considering my ham interest 100mhz would be nice.. however at school we mostly use digital scopes.... so I am leaning towards the owon....

Any thought on an own as compaired to a used tektronics... would be apriciated... thnak you..

Try any digital oscilloscope before buying; if you are very used to analog ones you may not like it, depending the type of signals you work with.

I use a digital scope at school..... though I like the real time avalible from an analog scope.... I apriciate the capabilitys, and storage of a digital scope... this is why I am looking towards buying a digital. Myh real problem is that mu budget is only around 300- no more than 500. This is what made the owan appealing to me.... I just wish it had a larger bandwith.... So a used one might be better... but I wonder if the older digitals can function as well as a newer one.......

I have the teck lic, but plan on studying for the general lic between classed this summer. It will give me a larger selection of avalible bands, that I can use.

I beleive Rigol' s products have good qualities, Agilent buys Rigol's Digital Oscilloscopes for sales at Agilent's low price range products.

Today while RIGOL Technologies has MSO’s ranging in price from $699 to $1,499. The other major oscilloscope manufacturers have created MSO ranging in price from $6,700 to well over $20,000. The pricing acceleration has made it quite difficult for engineers working with microcontrollers under 50 MHZ to afford these great tools.

Shops for sale’s Rigol DSO in Australia

But for student, I think the DC1052E will be good for price vs value. only AU$655.0 /US$500.0 at http://www.eyou.com.au/
