I've seen his posts before, but I can't really remember his username.

Hopefully the topic title will bring him out.

I got a 42" Samsung full 1080p HDTV off craigslist for free. The picture quality and everything is great with the exception that about 1/4 of the screen is completely black.

I have no idea how to about checking what might be the cause and I was curious to know if anybody can suggest something besides replacing the screen....

They use to have vertical height and verical lin-adjustment,they would
probablally be recessed in small holes somewhere in the back of set.
