I found the site, and for those of you who are looking for it, here's the link:

http://www.hrsa.gov/gethealthcare/affordable/hillburton/

I happen to have 5 health centers nearby, according to the zip code search.

Loosie, where do we go from here?

I may have heard of one or two of them. I kind of live out in the middle of nowhere, though, so most of the clinics are between 30-120 minutes away. Not sure if it's very convenient. I do have a couple of hospitals nearby (within about 15-20 miles), so I'd probably just go there instead. I have health insurance, so it's not a huge problem.

Very good Zazoo, people don't have to name them just check it out.
Its does say free on the picture Mark77 posted, that should get more
people checking it out and you say you live in the sticks that helps.
These places can be around and you would never know it.This is one
of my best post,free health.

Let's see, I have five near where I live, and ten near where I work. They seem to be spread out reasonably well. I'm glad they're out there--it is good to know for the future, in case something comes up. Now I know where to refer people with a low income to get medical care. Thanks for bringing this up, Loosie. I have no doubt it will help a lot of people :)

results for canada... It gives me a whole bunch of clinics for states that are closest to me. I guess next time I need help I can go to Anacortes, Wa since there is a clinic that

"proudly serves all persons without regard to race, ethnicity, immigration status, gender, or sexual preference, and regardless of ability to pay for services"

quite neat, I must say.

Did you notice that the health law has been in effect since the 70's.
They have clinics set up that will be known by name if you try your
zip code. Some of it is free that why you don't know about it.
It has not changed since the 70's,only got better.

I generally do not go to a health center unless I feel ill, or if something is actually wrong (i.e. a broken arm). I have not had any problems recently, so I have no need to investigate any of the options shown by the zip code search. Since I feel fine, I sit at my computer. Health care comes first, but only when it is necessary :D

OK Loosewire, Three came up within 20 miles of my place--the closest is where all the inner-city low-lifers and minorities (no longer minor) go--it is overcrowded, service is poor, personnel are rude--and it is simply hard to get questions answered--I know because my disabled daughter has gone there--they offer free dental too, but cannot /will not take more patients.

It almost reminds me of an accident that I had while living in Trinidad and Tobago--a bicyclist hit the side of my car, flew over the hood and got a "bad lash"--I drive him to the free clinic--there must have been 100 waiting in line, but the doctor had not yet arrived... He then simply asked for taxi fare and that was the last I saw of him.

The other two locations are in better areas and may provide better servide, but I cannot speak from experience.

Check out my new thread tomorrow, hopefully: Health insurance alternatives
