I'm suppose to do a report, specifically on Control Engineering...what it is, where it is used etc. As an intro, I have to find out whats the diff btwn a Techician and Engineer. Tried searching for the role the Controls Engineer and what they actually do, but all I come up with are specific job positions.

I'll take a stab at this one.

"Control Engineering" is concerned with the understanding and control of a segment of one's environment , often referred to as a "system", in order to provide a useful product for society.

It is based on the foundations of feedback theory and linear system analysis and integrates the concepts of network theory and communication theory.

It is not limited to any one engineering disipline, i.e. Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical.

The steam engine is an example of a control engineering solution using mechanical engineering principles. A robot is a good example of a control engineering solution that combines mechanical and electrical engineering principles.

In short; "engineers are the starters and technicians are the finishers".
