All in the title. I believe that the armature values will produce negative values and the shaft will begin spinning in the opposite direction but I'm not sure. Can anyone help?

Sounds like you are talking about a motor, not a generator.

 

Reversig the field polarity of a shunt generator (Assuming the field is NOT fed from the generator output. I.E the brushes.) then the output polarity will be reversed for the same direction of rotation.
