Hi - I'm testing a cap on an old bk multimeter, and am not sure I am doing it correctly. Does "1" indicate a faulty cap?

Looks to me like you're over range. Try the 2uF and 20uF positions - but, that might be a 470uF cap, and the meter may not be able to read that high.
