Telemetry

OK, I have an RF link from this forum, impressive. I have done lots of electronics designs in my years, however, it was just this week that I designed a Colpitts Oscillator using hand wound coils...fascinating. I am sure tat I can transmit my data with this "concoction, but receiving seems elusive. Can I create a tank with a resistor to ground tap and amplify it to create a receiver? Yes, I know I need to decode after, just need to get the signal to the other end.
