Hello,
I want to build a transducer but want to build something more solid than the usual subwoofer setup. This is for a home theater. Something like this video.

I know i will use a 500 watt rms subwoofer ac amplifier to run the lfe channel into.

What i am confused about is the device itself. it seems to be a coil wound around a plastic square transformer housing. I am not sure if that housing is then slid over a bar magnet or simply a iron bar . Are there magnets above and below the coil instead?
Also, if I plan on the device needing to oscillate a 3-4 lb weight at less than 100hz maybe a 1/2" both ways, would I make my coil heavy or the frame itself? how would I figure out what gauge of wire to use, how many times I coil it, do i double/triple coil it, would there simply be two leads at the end just like a subwoofer? Any help appreciated. Where would i buy the parts for the device itself, coil frame ... et?
