Hi all,
Can anyone suggest me a switching regulator to boost input voltage ranges from 8 to 30V to output 12V.
You may also want to look into a SEPIC smps power supply topology. What output power do you need from your 30V power supply?

i have planned to use flyback topology with a constant current source circuit to power up my switcher IC at low voltage. will this work out?

What switches are you using?
Do you have a constant AC source?
You want to do AC clipping or you want to control the outputs of the flyback transformer individualy like with triacs?
You have an schematic?
For what I can put together here You want to control and regulate the output voltage of an AC source to a lower AC voltage with some type of switcher IC is this IC operating on DC?.
Or you just want to use a Flyback transformer to build a DC regulated power supply?

am planning to use PWM IC
I dont have a constant AC source, planning to use Variac
I want to use a Flyback transformer to build a DC regulated power supply
schematic is not developed still

I am perplexed,
you want to use a variac to build a variable DC supply?
You want to use PWM switches in the outputs of the flyback transformer?
Ok, I will wait to see what you intent to do.

I mean to say my input will be AC.i will use a floating constant current source to power up the switcher IC. the topology what i have planned in Flyback toplogy. hope u understood
