Surface mount to wire connectors

Does anyone have a recommendation on a surface mount to wire connector that they like.

For through hole I like to use the MTA-100 connectors, about $0.40 ea and no pins to mess with. ( see here: http://www.tycoelectronics.com/catalog/minf/en/692 ) But, no one stocks the surface mount headers for them.

I have a project I'm working on that cannot use a though hole header. I only need 1 amp and 6-10 pins.

Thanks,

Grab a 10 pin MTA right angle header. Place the part of the pins after the bend on PCB pads and solder them. You get lots of contact area.

They sell surface mount headers that have the pins "gull wing" out at the bottom.

If much mechanical stress is anticipated, add a bead of 2 part epoxy resin around the bottom edge after soldering.
