Submarine controller recomendations

Hello. Over the summer a friend and I built a submarine. It has not yet seen water due to my laziness on the electronics end. The original play was to use some large batteries and a battery UPS to run an old i368 main board. The board has a wired ethernet card to communicate with a router on the surface. The computer ran puppy Linux off a flash drive. It also would feed images to the controlling computer via on-sub logitech webcam. Now that I see how cheap ARM's are and have some ethernet chips, I am thinking of replacing the computer with an arm or other microcontroller. My only concern is the image service. Will I still be able to get a live video feed using microcontrollers? Any other suggestions?
thanks
