Stacking up two MCU, how to take care of GND of two MCU

I have to stack up two microcontrollers because I have to measure volatge of cells. Using adC of one MCU for lower 4 cells in a pack & for higher 4 cells I have to stack a MCU. I have seen this thing been done in many project, but I don't understand how to take care of two grounds
