i want to replace a duff st93c66 eeprom and have a m93c66. the difference is the st93 is clock speed 1MHz and the m93 its modern replacement is 2MHz. will it work on the 1MHz clock.

 

I don't see any reason why it shouldn't work. (I have not looked at the specific datasheets.)

 

according to the spec sheets the only thing i can see is that the clock speed for the st is 1mhz and the m is 2 mhz. so im guessing that the m will run happily with a 1 mhz clock.or does it mean it has to be 1mhz???

 

You can operate a component at a lower speed.
Running a component at a speed higher that its rated speed is not recommended.
