I got this switch mode power supply from an old IBM AS/400 server made by astec. it's rated like 600W 45A total 3V and 29A 5V. I noticed this would run a good size DC motor, most supplies I used before would just turn off from current liming. this one didn't then I touched 2 5V wires together get a spark, but still keeps running.
this made me a bit worried since it appears it has no current limiting that maybey even running that motor isn't a good idea since it may burn it up and possibly blow caps, or start burning inside. it's got a good size fan so heat shouldn't be an issue, but I don't want it to catch fire or something.
any thoughts whether this is ok to do with this supply?
