Single supply Op-amp

I too am looking for a "all around" rail-rail op amp to plug into filter circuits as well as front ends for A-D conveters.

Dual rail operation option nice, but single supply design is desired (compared to "can work on virtual ground"), as well as rail-rail outputs, and acceptable gain at least through 50kHz.

In order to straighten out my recommendations on op-amps, I want to play with a few, which means ordering a dozen of each to check consistency in same circuit, etc. So, Top 3 suggestions would be welcome. Price, cheap as possible, of course, but preferably under $4 ea.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Microchip Technology are really underrated for some of their analog stuff they do.

All the specs except supply voltage only goes to 6V but voltage regulators are dirt cheap anyway. (Microchip make them too.)

Single quantities 68 cents from Microchip, probably more from other suppliers.

I plan to order the op amps listed above in the next month or so, then put them through paces, such as precision rectification, audio amp, comparator, etc. (the common stuff we see threads on). Then make a thread on the results.

Hopefully, it will end the "Which Op Amp" argument once and for all, as well as showing the 741's response to the same tests.

A list of tests would be good, i've only got the 3 tests in mind right now, reason for single rail is that most asking end up getting a dual rail and want to use it as a single rail anyway.

Depending on amplitude and gain, the 741 could start rolling off as early as 1Khz, and as late as 5KHz. The slew rate and gain specs are pretty clear on the subject, and extremely predictable.
