I'm taking a control systems class and I'm implementing a simple 1 digit up counter....but all the schematics online are using 4510 counters and 4511 decoders.......I have ordered them online through Allied but I thought maybe a 555 clocking a 7490 and then signaling a 7447 into my segment displays would work just fine but it is skipping count erradically...it goes like 2 5 1 9 0 ......from the 7447 to the segment display I know I have right......I built a digital 6 digit segment display clock in a digital class which worked just fine....I guess I just can't figure out the push button with the 555 configuration........please help anyone if you know a good schematic or how to hook up a 555 timer to clock the circuitry correct.
