Shielded wire

Hi,

I am going to use shielded wires for the power lines to a DC motor. Do I connect the shield with the power supply output ground or with the ground from the mains (input of the transformer)?
Also, will twisting the wires help to reduce any noise?

Thanks in advance.

DC motors are quite robust then it comes to noise, but create a lot of noise. The problem may be that noise from the DC motor affect other parts in the system. So it may be wise to pay attention to such thing as your grounding regime. And shielding of the control units.

Shielding, by itself, will rarely help if the underlying problem is common-mode noise due to ground-loops. You should explain what is happening and how your system is wired.
