Send/Receive sequence in C++ help

Hi,

I tried a very quick search of the forums for a send receive sequence and got no results so thought I would ask.

I don't want a script on how to do it etc, I just want a resource that I could use that will allow me to learn how to do it myself if that makes sense. I am meant to have been taught C++ at uni however obviously it did't sink in...

So where can I look for one? (Google is'nt a helpful answer as im not getting anywhere with that atm) unless you provide a link with search terms that could help. Its going to be for a wireless application and I need it to start up when one device is detected to be within range of the other.
