I am trying to make my own SATA hard drive power switcher to turn hard drives on and off when I need them.

I am finding a way which allows me to decide which hard drives are going to be switched on and also, when the computer is turned on, stops the hard drives from being turned on or off.

I have bought 12VDC Latching relays that have a set and a reset, I was wandering how these would be wired and also if their is a way to auto reset them when the power is turned off so I can change the hard drives to be powered on.

Any helped would be appreciated.

Is their a way to wire relays so that they cannot be switched on after power has been applied to them?
Yes, but you need an extra set of contacts that switch the power to the coil. Contacts go in parallel with whatever other switch you used.
