While dealing with a salient pole machine, the stator-rotor inductances get modified through the addition of an extra term which is multiplied with the cosine of twice the electrical angle. In this regard,

    A) Why do we add terms just to the stator inductances and not the field ones? Doesn't the change in air gap geometry affect those values?

    B) Can you explain the cosine term and the angle associated with it?
