Are those bulbs mechanically compatible with the existing sockets for those purposes?

 

Yeah, the rocker is basically a Softail, the bulbs are 1157s but the wiring for turn signal is one wire to both circuits, so the module separates and adds a run circuit as well as mix for brake and turn. While it can be built, a reliable waterproof module will be reliable and involve no cutting and splicing. recommend the unit whichever you go with. I find building your own saves no money and time and can be a weak point.

 

the bulbs are 1157s

While not doubting you, it just seems kind of strange that they aren't 3157 bulbs. Since by 2009 I would have thought all vehicles would have changed over to that style base, the flat base bulb.

I know those things. My newest Harley is a 1989. The oldest is a '57 with the middle one a '58. Just can't believe with all the new stuff like EFI and such they are still using the old lights. If I remember right my dash lights are the flat base type though.
