Hi,
I have a weather station which streams its collected weather data from an RS232 port on the back of the display. (Scientific Oregon WMR968/918). I have smashed the touch screen (DOH!) but the LCD is still functioning normally. Sci-O say I can't get a new touch screen, so rather than have to buy a new WMR968/918 I'd like to just get at the data stream and import it into a suitable weather program for viewing on my network/website etc.
Thing is, the WMR is in a rather difficult location - has to be to pickup all the wireless sensor signals - but has a LAN RJ45 socket to hand.
Is there a gadget that I can plug the WMR RS232 into and then plug that into the LAN socket and then access the data on a PC somewhere else on the LAN in some cunning way? I don't really want to have to instal a dedicated PC connected directly to the WMR968/918 and then connect that to the LAN.
Regards, Martin Winlow.
